Conference “Digital Identity: don’t stop it now!”

Professor Giusella Finocchiaro will take part in the event “Digital Identity: don’t stop it now!”, held by the Osservatorio Digital Identity of the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano, one of the main workgroups on digital identity. During the event, the results of the research activities carried out by the Osservatorio during 2021 will be illustrated and several central issues on digital identity will be discussed, such as, inter alia, the degree of diffusion and development of the digital identities at national and international level and the evolution of the legislative framework.

Professor Giusella Finocchiaro will join the first meeting of the series of online lectures “Privacy in the Digital Age”, held by the European Law Students’ Association of Bologna “ELSA”, the largest independent law students’ association. The main goal of the event is to deepen knowledge in the field of privacy. During the opening day, Professor Giusella Finocchiaro will present an in-depth analysis on the following topics: the birth of the right to privacy, the legal experiences in Europe, the creation of the Code regarding the protection of personal data and the transition to the GDPR.
Online workshop “Identità on line e identificazione elettronica: il quadro attuale e le nuove prospettive”

Professor Giusella Finocchiaro will join the online workshop “Identità online e identificazione elettronica: il quadro attuale e le nuove prospettive”, together with Giorgia Bianchini. Held by the Osservatorio Digital Identity of the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano, one of the major workgroups on digital identity, the workshop aims at presenting a legal overview on digital identity, illustrating the European and Italian legislative framework. It will be focused on the basics from the e-IDAS Regulation, the recent proposal for its revision, the Italian electronic identification systems and the innovations introduced during the emergency period.

Professor Giusella Finocchiaro will join the online conference "Governance dei dati tra condivisione e protezione. Sfide e riflessioni a partire dal Data Governance Act e dal libro 'Fuori i dati!’”. Professor Finocchiaro will discuss the issues related to the governance of data together with other eminent speakers, Professor Giorgio Resta and Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, Professor of Internet Governance and Regulation at the Oxford University and author of "“Access Rules. Freeing information to stop Big Tech, revive innovation, and empower society”. The conference will be held during the Internet Festival 2021, a prestigious event organized by Fondazione Sistema Toscana and promoted by, inter alia, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Scuola Normale of Pisa and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna
New Chinese Civile Code: a law for transition

University of Bologna and the Queen Mary University of London organized, with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, an important online conference on the issues related to the recent changes in the Chinese regulatory framework. The first part of the event will aim at illustrating the new Chinese Civil Code “in context”, while during the second part the eminent speakers will address several specific issues, such as the contract law and protection of personal data.

Professor Finocchiaro will illustrate the legal framework on smart contracts, addressing the open issues with regard to the protection of personal data.
